Is it wrong to be obsessed with learning and growth?

As human beings, we are meant to learn and grow all the time.

I think our evolution shaped this view of lifelong learning in us because if we were not learning continuously about our environment we would die starving or due to attacks.

Schooling vs. Learning

There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.”

— Jiddu Krishnamurti

A lot of people think that our growth stops after school. In fact, real growth starts after you complete formal schooling because that is when you enter the unstructured world for your to tap into your natural ways of learning.

Lifelong Learning

There should never be an end to learning which is why there exists the concept of “lifelong learning”.

In a world that is becoming more dynamic and more chaotic, only lifelong learners will remain relevant. In fact, they are the ones who will thrive, not just survive.

“Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.”

― Albert Einstein

If you are someone who is obsessed with getting better and learning every day consider you have a buddy i.e., me.

Is it okay to have the urge to learn every day?

While society might want you to stop learning and have fun, it is important to understand what you like as a person. If learning every day itself is fun for you why think about what others would say?

By all means, indulge yourself in learning and think about growth every day. Take all the courses you find interesting, listen to as many podcasts as you can while walking or exercising, and buy every book that catches your attention.

You don’t need to prove anything to the world but just don’t stop obsessing over the knowledge you want to attain and the wisdom you are keen to seek.

Cheers to all the life long learners.
